Car Noises – Is Your Car Trying to Tell You Something?
Even though we don’t think about it, we are very much attuned to the sounds our car makes – that’s why we instantly notice when it “sounds different”.
Sometimes it’s a one-time event – it goes away not to return – this usually is not a cause for concern (unless it’s a loud bang).
But if your car starts to sound strange, especially if you are hearing unusual noises from the engine area – it’s time to take it to your trusted mechanic for a checkup. Santa Cruz Goodyear Tires and Auto Repair employs ASE nationally certified technicians who have the skills and the latest equipment necessary to diagnose and fix problems your vehicle may be experiencing.
Here are some of the noises that should motivate you to set up an appointment:
clunking when braking, grinding manual transmission when shifting, rattles beneath the vehicle, knocking from the engine area, scraping or grinding when applying brakes, hissing or sizzling under the hood
Trust your instincts – if it “doesn’t sound right” – get it checked out by a competent, ASE certified mechanic. The cost of a checkup is minuscule compared to any safety concerns or major breakdowns. While you are there, it’s a good opportunity to get an oil change as well – regular oil service is the best thing you can do for engine longevity.
